Our current projects

Calexico Solar Inverters

Location: Calexico, CA

Construction: Rigging & Structural Steel

Scope:

Phase 1 – Included rigging services to offload new replacement solar inverters from trucking provided by the general contractor.

Phase 2 – Included rigging and removing the old existing inverters from over 100 steel platforms throughout a five square-mile solar site.

Phase 3 – When it was determined the new inverters had a larger footprint than the old inverters, we were asked to furnish and install a structural steel extension to all the platforms.

Phase 4 – Upon completion of welding the new steel extensions, we proceeded rigging, setting, and anchoring the new inverters to the steel platforms and extensions.

Los Angeles Zoo Canopies

Location: Los Angeles Zoo, CA

Construction: Design Build – Giraffe & Elephant Shade Canopies

Scope: This was a great opportunity to showcase our design build services. Led by our senior project manager, Thomas Larsen, we initially provided concept designs and material specifications for five elephant canopies and one giraffe canopy. We coordinated throughout with the Los Angeles Zoo and City of Los Angeles staff. To maximize the available shade during the hot summer months, careful consideration was given to positioning the canopies in relationship to the sun.

Once the design and permitting was finalized we proceeded with construction. Our construction scope started with locating potential unknown underground obstructions, followed by excavation and placement of concrete foundations. The canopy columns were required to be fabricated from steel to withstand the forces of elephants. To keep with the aesthetic of a wildlife theme, the canopy roofs were constructed of wood timbers.

We would like to thank the City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Zoo for this opportunity.
